2009 OKC News Bureau

The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber is re-launching the Oklahoma City News Bureau this year, and we would like to invite you to be a part of it. Many of you were involved in this group in the past, while for others it may be entirely new. Let me refresh everyone’s memory on what this group is all about.

Everyone invited to be a part of this group is a communications professional. We all live here and work here, and we believe in all the great things that Oklahoma City has to offer. We want to communicate these great things throughout the city and nationwide, but how do we do it? We gather all the communications professionals in the city, and we work together.

So what specifically does the group do?

1) As a communications professional, it helps to be “in the know” on what is happening in the city. We will have several meetings throughout the year, and each of these meetings will give you a sneak preview of a new and upcoming hot spot in the Oklahoma City area. And of course, these meetings will also give you a chance to network with your colleagues. The first meeting will be at the American Indian Cultural Center and Museum at the end of March. Watch your inbox for the invite!

2) We will offer many resources, such as brainstorming lunches, contact information for everyone in the group, media story ideas and more. Each of these resources will assist us as we work to promote all that OKC has to offer.

3) Most importantly, this group will give you access to more than 100 other professionals who can help you with an interview, give you advice on a topic, or work with you to come up with countless story ideas to hand to the media.

There is nothing you need to do but watch your inbox for the latest news and information. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at jharrison@okcchamber.com. Here's to an exciting year!
